Teachers tag their own classes
Teachers "tag" their own classes. It is as simple as a teacher deciding they are going to include a tech integrated project in their course, or not. Just as they would decide to include any project or not within their course offering. Teachers communicate to their site principal which section assignments they have / or will "tag" as technology integrated so that the principal can determine the school’s progress towards meeting its participation rates. The online process takes about 30 seconds to complete. Teachers may view the draft online "intent to participate" expected to come online near the end of the school year.
Semester courses may be "tagged" as a result of a "Lesson(s)", a "Project", or multiple technology experiences planned throughout a course. What all of these options have in common is that they integrate 4 of 6 NETS Standards at some point in the duration of the course.
Teachers report student success via the ABI report card
Teachers report student success via the ABI report card during established report card window time periods.
Teachers click on a "T" within the ABI report card to report a student who "passed" the technology integrated project or experience. The technology gradation requirement will have its own column within the online ABI report card similar to citizenship and work habits.
Teachers may report a "T" for students in a course only one time per semester. Teachers with year long classes may report a secondary "T" for the same students provided the second semester technology experiences was unique. Middle School teachers who teach quarter classes may report a "T" for students at the end of each quarter.
Support reources for teachers
We are excited about supporting teachers, especially some of your colleagues you might be thinking are not exactly comfortable with technology. Barbara Miller, recently retried from Haskell MS, is a well respected teacher among her peers as a great mentor and teacher of teachers. Barbara will serve as the district technology integration specialist for this project and be available to all secondary schools for direct support on campus. Barbara's functions also includes coordinating activities with the new site technology integration specialists, direct assistance to secondary teachers' lesson planning with technology, and the coordiantion of key staff development offerings designed to support this new policy.
In addition, teachers are provided a variety of tools to self-determine if their tech integration effort meets the district standard. Tools includes the NETS, ABC’s 2008 PreK-12 Technology Standards and Benchmarks, and custom designed online tools to assist teachers with lesson design using technology and the NETS.

Teachers may submit review and utilize lessons within The Lesson Bank. All bank lessons, projects and course experiences meet the high school technology graduation requirement standards of integrating 4 of 6 NETS. Teachers are encouraged to utilize the lesson bank for ideas and to submit their creations for the benefit of other ABC teachers.
